Coronavirus: Security Guards Awards
In the past five years SIRV has either won or been runners up for the Security and Fire Excellence Award. Of course, this year is no different. The name for this year’s entry is Coronavirus Security Guards Guidance. What makes it award worthy?

The following is a look at our entry to the Security and Fire Excellence Awards 2020. If you have any questions about how digital decision trees can help you please get in touch.
The Challenge
The coronavirus pandemic changed the way we work. As a result, security guards are now ‘Key Workers’ and their close contact with the public makes it one of the most risky professions around. After all, building still require a security patrol.
Throughout the pandemic the security guard adapted and changed their working practices to address the threat. As a result, convention dictates we document these new ways of working in assignment instructions. However, assignment instructions are bulky and are not easily changed, reducing their credibility.
The Technology
SIRV offers assignment instructions in a new format, digital decision trees. Therefore, assignment instructions are made into technology that is:
- Accessible to all
- Easy and quick to use
- Up-to-date
Unlike flow charts and written procedures, the SIRV digital decision tree gives users only one decision at a time. As a result, better decisions are made.
Coronavirus: Security Guards Digital Decision Tree

The Solution
At the outset of the virus the government guidance for treating people changed daily. But, changes to assignment instructions were not always made or communicated. Therefore, SIRV changed the latest government guidance into a decision tree for security guards. This assures clients their security guards are acting in line with best practice. Also, it gives security guards guidance in an easy, no-nonsense format.
